A Review of a Reference List In occasion of writing papers or articles, authors shape their background literature by referring to preceding work. According to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 2010), writers need to “cite the works of those individuals whose ideas, theories, or research have directly influenced your work” (p. 169). By means of in-text citations and a reference list at the end of their research papers or articles, authors endow their work with credibility and provide the readers with the opportunity to refer to the cited literature. Indeed, when the audience is to have access to the references, a set of guidelines such as the APA manual is to be followed so as to provide the audience with accurate and sufficient information about the cited works.
